The Ministry of Health supports all efforts aimed at informing all health providers and medical staff of the hallowed principles of medical ethics and confidential doctor-patient relationship, said a ministry official on Saturday.
Opening a one-day conference on the subject of medical ethics, assistant undersecretary for medical services at the ministry Dr. Mohammad Al-Khishti stressed that the ministry took pains to train new physicians on following strict guidelines of medical ethics in their daily work with patients.
The conference focuses on medical ethics in relation to such topics as organ transplantation, brain death, pregnancy, and surrogacy, he said. Medical ethics is a system of moral principles that apply values and judgments to the practice of medicine. As a scholarly discipline, medical ethics encompasses its practical application in clinical settings as well as work on its history, philosophy, and sociology.
