The animal production department at the Public Authority of Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) plans to raise the production of meat in 2016 by one million kilograms, said Al-Qabas daily. The department said it intends to raise the self sufficiency rate of milk, mutton and poultry by the production of Sulaibiya, Kabd, Wafra and Abdaly pens and farms.
A list shows the expected increased production as the department expects a reduction in egg production, which exceeds the self sufficient limit by 15 percent. The amount of halal meat will increase by 7,000 tons in 2020 from 12,350 to 19,350 tons, and next year will increase by nearly 1,000 tons, which means it will reach 13,300 tons. As for poultry meat, it will increase from 58,200 tons to 62,750 tons in five years. Production of fresh milk will reach 112,000 tons in 2020 as it reached 74,000 tons this year, an increase of 38,000 tons, while table egg producers will decrease their production by 244 tons.
