The ever-active association of Bihar and Jharkhand, Maurya Kala Parisar, has announced it will hold its Annual General Meeting on 30 January, 2105. The Executive Committee expressed its commitment to the bylaws of the association. It informed all members to ‘save the date’ and wait for further announcements on the venue and agenda. But members are encouraged to send their suggestions and concerns to lead the association towards continuous improvement.
As 2014 comes to close it’s time for looking back and taking stock of situation. The past year has been a year of accomplishments for Maurya Kala Parisar that any socio-cultural association can be proud of.
The year started with an Ethnic Food Festival, a presentation of mouth-watering food from Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, Eastern UP, Nepal, Surinam, Mauritius and Trinidad. First of its kind in Kuwait, both participants and tasters were thrilled and enjoyed the festival. Another first ever in Kuwait was the Dinkar Poetry Award for Children. Participants and sponsoring schools and parents were thrilled, and one of the teachers commented ‘it’s no short of revolution.’ The final round of the completion also had a quality Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan done by the top most poets of Kuwait.
Maurya Manch in November 2014 was one of the grandest stage shows ever presented by Maurya. Prepared by the member families the show was as professional as such events could be, featuring a mix of pan Indian and Bihar-Jharkhand cultures. Some items presented by ladies, gents and children will be long remembered for their quality and entertainment quotient. Mind Spark: Dr. Rajendra Prasad Debate Competition was the largest independent debating competition. Over 100 contestants from 13 schools participated and were evaluated by 14 judges. The competition had six initial rounds before the tough and coveted finals.
During the year MKP also conducted a yoga & wellness meets, regular yoga sessions, Sports Day, Incredible India: Bihar & Jharkhand Competition and farewell to members leaving Kuwait.
