Maurya Kala Parisar, Kuwait is back with the Fourth edition of its immensely popular Ethnic Food Festival. The spring event held every year has become an important part of event calendar of Indian Community in Kuwait. The event is a competition of home cooked food from the region and Food Stalls where audience can enjoy popular dishes from the region. The festivities also include fun and games for the audience and participants. The event will be held on Friday, 27 January, 2017.
The festival celebrates the food specialties from the eastern region of India namely from the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and other NE states. The ‘Poorab Ke Pakwan’ is international too. Nepal, Mauritius, Surinam, West Indies, Bangla Desh and Fiji are not far in taste and culture.
Last year during 3rd Eastern India Ethnic Food Festival of Maurya Kala Parisar, attended by the Ambassador of India to Kuwait H.E. Sunil Jain and his wife Gargi Jain, nearly 70 dishes prepared at home by 42 ladies and men were at display in four categories. Presentation of dishes was a surprise highlight of the competition.
Entries for the food competition is open to Indian Community in Kuwait including members / non-members both. Entries can be submitted for the following categories-
Category 1: Vegetarian dishes; Category 2: Non-vegetarian dishes;
Category 3: Desserts; and Category 4: Street Food from Northern India
Criteria for evaluation: Taste/Presentation/Ethnicity with respect to the region
There will be 3 prizes in each category.

Confirmation: ‘I confirm the dish for the competition shall be prepared by me’.
Basic rules for the food competition are as under:
i) Participants will bring prepared dish for competition. It’s not on the spot cooking event.
ii) The dish shall be exclusive to the eastern region of India for category 1, 2,3. Variation without losing the flavor of region is expected. Judges decision and scores will be final.
iii) Maximum number of entries from an individual participant is two.
iv) There is no entry fee. Food brought by the participants as entries are their contribution to the event. Quantity should be 4/5 potions for tasting by judges & a few lucky audiences.
v) Basic food ingredients and recipe shall be disclosed.
Maurya Kala Parisar registered with Embassy of India in Kuwait, is a cultural and social association of people in Kuwait associated with the Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand. It is dedicated to promote arts, culture and heritage of the region through events and activities of interest to Indian Community in Kuwait.
