Mukkulathor Welfare Association (MWA) – Kuwait celebrated its second year of ‘Mupperum Vizha’ – Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar Jayanthi, Great King of Chola - Raja Rajan’s ‘Sathaya Vizha’ and the remembrance day of The Marudhu Pandiyar brothers on 11 November at the Pakistan School, Abbasiya. More than 2,000 attendees from the Mukkulathor community attended the function making it a huge success.
The celebration was graced by President of Moovendhar Munnetra Kalagam GM. Sridhar Vandayar, Nethaji Sena Convener MaharajanThevar and Student wing President of Moovendhar Munnetra Kalagam Vaibhav Vandayar.
MWA - Kuwait welcomed their guest of honor with the famous ‘Chenda Melam’ performance.
This was followed by the welcome speech, delivered by Mr. Samy. He briefed the audience on the MWA activities and the ‘Mupperum Vizha’.
Maharajan Thevar in his speech spoke about the great leaders: King Raja Raja Cholan, Maruthu Pandiyar Brothers and Muthuramalinga Thevar. He requested the gathering to stay united to portray the streangth of the community and help the needy.
Sridhar Vandayar presented a motivational speech in which he mentioned that ‘Maaveeran Poolithevan’, Velunachiyar and the ‘Maruthu Pandiyar Brothers’ from the Mukkulathor Community were the first freedom fighters who fouht against the British even before Jhansi Rani and the rest. He highlighted the importance of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar’s role in the independence movement along with Nethaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He also said that Pasumpon Muthuramlainga Thevar’s support to help the Dalits gain entry in to the temples and his vision against the communal violence in Tamil Nadu is huge.
The function was well organized by the Mukkulathor Welfare Association - Kuwait under the Patronage of N. Baskar Mannaiyar (President), Arun Ulaganathan Thevar (Hon. Preseident) , Ganesan Thenkondar (Secretary), and V. Perumal Thevar (Treasurer). The Executive committee of the MWA-Kuwait and the event was successfully hosted by Kathiravan.
The event ended with traditional food being served to the gathering.
