MP Ahmad Al-Qudaibi has forwarded questions to Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh on the embezzlement case of the former director of the Public Institution for Social Security, decision of the Swiss Federal Court to freeze 15 bank accounts linked to the case and the arrest order issued against the director. He also asked about the legal procedures taken to recover the embezzled funds, if any.
Meanwhile, MP Mohammed Al-Jabir has affirmed his willingness to support the proposal for Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) to remain as the national carrier with the government owning 75 percent of the shares. He also stressed the need for the government to put the carrier back to its leading position and it must be on par with top airline companies regionally and globally.
He believes this will help KAC overcome the dire consequences of its previous financial losses, as manifested in the results of the steps taken by its current administration which reduced the amount of losses to less than 50 percent. He said the government is then expected to play a bigger role in developing KAC, particularly its fleet which should increase to 40 airplanes by the end of next year.
