MP Saadoun Hamad Al-Otaibi on Sunday submitted a grilling motion to National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim against Minister of Public Works and Minister of Electricity and Water Ahmed Al-Jassar.
The three-pivoted interpellation is based on Article 100 of the Kuwaiti Constitution.
Al-Otaibi's motion tackles on what he states as "financial and administrative irregularities and suspected encroachment on public funds" regarding the awarding of a tender for establishing and furnishing a new terminal and the Kuwaiti International Airport.
Artical 100 of the Kuwaiti Constitution provides that "Every member of the National Assembly may address to the Prime Minister and to Ministers interpellations with regard matters falling within their competence."
Al-Jassar submitted his resignation to the cabinet late in September, and it has not yet been accepted, nor refused.
On 29 September, then Acting Prime Minister interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah notified a cabinet meeting of Al-Jassar's resignation letter directed to His Highness the Premier Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Since then, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah was entrusted with the portfolio of the Ministry of Electricity. Minister of State for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul was given the Public Works portfolio.
