The Ministry of Health (MoH) blood bank launched on Tuesday a day-long blood donation campaign marking the 26th anniversary of the blatant Iraqi aggression on the State of Kuwait, in cooperation with the Ministry of Information.
Dr. Hanan Al-Awadhi, the supervisor of medical services and guidance at the blood bank, told KUNA that the campaign aims at recalling the martyrs' sacrifices and enhancing social solidarity among citizens and expatriates.
The bank plans to increase number of donors' beds in each health district from 20 to 40, Dr. Al-Awadhi said, revealing that the donated blood bags, in 2015, reached 75,008.
Today falls the 26th anniversary of the Iraqi aggression that happened on August 2nd, 1990, when troops of the executed Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, invaded the country, wreaking havoc, inflicting casualties and causing miseries for scores of Kuwaiti families.
The State of Kuwait marks the occasion each year, recalling the bitter hardships under occupation and the unified stances of the people of Kuwait in the face of the aggressors.
