January 7, 2015, 1:52 pm

Two Kuwaiti students accused of torturing and killing their roommate have appealed the death sentence handed down to them by Sharjah Criminal Court.

On Tuesday Y S, 20, and H A, 19, requested that the Court of Appeals re-examine the testimony of the coroner and doctor involved in the case.

The pair were sentenced to death by Sharjah Criminal Court in November last year after being found guilty of depriving the victim’s freedom, torture, and premeditated murder.

Kuwaiti Mubarak Meshaal Al Mubarak, 19, a first-year student at the University of Sharjah, died in hospital on February 25 last year after suffering internal bleeding, burns and multiple fractures sustained during three days of torture.

The Court of Appeals adjourned the case until February 24.
