A Kuwaiti national has filed a lawsuit against the government on Wednesday in a bid to reverse its decision to increase fuel prices. He said he filed the case because families would be “heavily affected” by the surge in prices, reported Gulf Daily News.
The government announced earlier this year that it would increase fuel prices by more than 80 percent starting today, September 1, as part of its economic reforms aimed at countering low oil revenues.
The new measurement, which came into effect today, saw the price of low-octane petrol increase by 41 percent per litre and the price of high-grade petrol increase by 61 percent.
Moreover, the price of eco-friendly low-emission petrol also increased by 83 percent.
