Kuwaiti industries seek accreditation through deal with Gulf center
March 20, 2018, 5:15 pm

Kuwait's Public Authority for Industry (PAI) has signed a contract with the GCC Accreditation Center to provide certification services for its laboratories, bringing the facilities at par with international standards.

It is imperative that PAI's labs are accredited to ensure the protection of consumers, the independent Kuwaiti state body said in a statement on Tuesday. Meanwhile, it pointed out that the certification was a means to an end, leading to increased credibility and efficiency, which in turn, protects the local market from the infiltration of goods that do not meet quality standards.

PAI's Director General Abdulkarim Taki sealed the deal with his counterpart at the GCC Accreditation Center Ahmad Al-Mutairi, the statement added. Formed in 1997, PAI monitors industrial activity in the country and aims to bring Kuwait's economic goals to fruition.
