A group of Kuwaiti artists known as ‘Al-Hassan Brothers’, paired with Philippines’ Bossa Nova Queen of Kuwait and guitarists, left Philippine diplomats, officials and guests spellbound with their impressive performance of mixed Latin and Portuguese songs.
The event started with a brief introduction by the organizer of the event followed by awarding of certificates of appreciation to the sponsors. Radio and Television host Rowena Tinio with guitarists Nomer Cervantes and Arthur Lelix Jr. perked the night’s event with three songs from Sergio Mendez namely; Girl from Ipanema, Bridges and Mais Que Nada. Tinio showed her vocal versatility by singing the songs both in Portuguese and English.
Followed immediately was the performance of Al-Hassan Group with ten songs, a collection of popular Latin and Portuguese numbers. Kuwaiti artists were Haitham Abdulaziz Al-Hassan, Mahmoud Waleed Al-Hassan, Hassan Waleed Al-Hassan and Ali Abdulaziz Al-Hassan leading the group and the vocalist.
The crowd cheered as some popular renditions from Gypsy Kings were sung along with classical Spanish guitar rhythms filled the night’s performance. Certificates of recognition were awarded to the artists by Charge’s D’ Affaires Atty. Raul Dado and Labor Attaché Atty. Cesar Chavez. Coincided with the event was the visit of officials from the Philippines who came towards the end of the event. A combination of light snacks and buffet dinner was served.
The event was organized for The Philippine Overseas Labor Office and shelter and in cooperation with The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines Kuwait. The organizers, The Morning Talk Show wishes to extend its gratitude to Consul Jabbar Adiong and Administrative Officer Girlie Caba for their assistance to ensure the success of the event.
