Iranian security authorities have set free the Kuwaiti citizen, Adel Al-Huwal, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Iran said on Saturday.
Majdi Al-Thafiri said in a statement Al-Huwal, who was held by security authorities in Shiraz city, was freed in the afternoon today.
Al-Huwal was released as a result of daily efforts, exerted by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, namely contacts that had been held by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary, Khaled Al-Jarallah.
The official in charge of consular affairs at the Kuwaiti Embassy, currently present in Shiraz, received the released Kuwaiti national from the security authorities, and arrangements were underway to send him back home for reunion with his family, as soon as possible, the ambassador stated.
Al-Huwal is in fit shape and enjoys good health, said Al-Thafiri, who deeply praised cooperation of the Iranian authorities, namely the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Security Ministry and other departments for securing release of the Kuwaiti citizen.
Such cooperation on part of the Iranian authorities reflects high level of understanding between the two countries and distinctive status of the Kuwaiti-Iranian ties, he added.
