Kuwaiti PM says security forces on alert amid heavy deluge
November 6, 2018, 4:05 pm

Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad AlSabah said on Tuesday that security forces are ready to deal with any emergencies that arise after a downpour left roads across the country inundated with water.

In comments broadcast on state television, the Kuwaiti prime minister assured the nation of immediate action in order to cope with the adverse weather conditions gripping the country. As he toured the interior ministry to assess the level of preparedness of security forces
towards perilous situations, he revealed that the decision to declare Tuesday a public holiday was necessary given the scope of the disaster.

With no end in sight to the deluge, the Kuwaiti premier reiterated security forces are fully prepared to provide around-the-clock assistance in case of any emergencies caused by the unstable weather. Persistent heavy rains have caused widespread disruption in major roads nationwide, with forecasters warning of the possibility of more flooding in the coming days.
