Kuwait's Abdulwahab AlOthman won a chess grandmaster title at the 43rd Chess Olympiad in the Georgian capital, Batumi, on Wednesday.

AlOthman won the title after getting required points, head of the Kuwaiti team Khaled AlMutairi told KUNA in a statement over the telephone.

AlOthman won six matches and equalized in two others, AlMutairi added, noting that this is the second title grabbed by Kuwaiti players. Bader AlHajri won the same title in Asia men's tourney in 2016, AlMutairi pointed out.

Kuwait's female player Fatma AlZahraa Baqer won the Woman Candidate Master (WCM) title after attaining 3.5 points in six rounds.
