The project for confidence boosting among students, "Watheq," will take part in the Fourth Regional Conference on Child Protection against Violence 2016, which will be held at the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel on 18 April.
Rasha Al-Fares, member of the project higher committee, told KUNA on Sunday that "Watheq" will present at the inauguration of the convention, themed "protection of children in Arab states...chances and challenges," an operetta titled, "smile of hope," depicting rhetorical and physical abuse on children.
The operetta, involving actors, students and teachers and directed by Rashed Al-Mutawaa, will shed light on role of the National Committee for Child Protection and "Watheq" project which adopts plans for minimizing maltreatment and abuse of the children.
"Watheq" will also hold, during the three-day activity, a workshop on violence against children at schools and a discussion panel on alternatives to physical punishment. Al-Fares added that the convention aims at promoting schemes for youth empowerment, leadership, social practical participation and work.
The convention, sponsored by Health Minister Dr. Ali Al-Obaidi, is also scheduled to discuss child protection against violence in Arab countries, promoting awareness of such violence and its spread in the Arab region.
