A Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation is preparing to submit a proposal during meetings of the Arab Parliament on Sunday (tomorrow), with the aim of developing the Arab League.

Speaking to KUNA, Ali Al-Deqbasi, a lawmaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly and the Arab Parliament, said the proposal seeks to help the league overcome major economic, political and humanitarian challenges facing the Arab nation.

The current league's role is below ambitions in terms of addressing such challenges, he added. He expressed his sorrow over the crises of desertification, poverty, ignorance and diseases that affect badly several Arab countries.

Al-Deqbasi urged the Arab governments to push forward the proposal to evolve the Arab League or close it, saying its current situation is extremely worrying. Meanwhile, he voiced his optimism over the fruitful efforts by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah aiming to reach a resolution to the Gulf crisis.

He said the Kuwaiti mediation is the only official way to heal the rift among Gulf brothers, expressing his confidence in wisdom and ability of GCC leaders to resolve the crisis. The Kuwaiti lawmaker hopes for stopping the exchange of accusations among GCC brothers through media.

The delegation includes MPs Waleed Al-Tabtabaie, Khaled Al-Otaibi and Al-Deqbasi. The delegation will take part in the second session of the second legislative term of the Arb Parliament on Tuesday 31.

Some meetings of the standing committees will be held before the session to discuss several projects pertaining to political and security matters as well as the Palestinian cause and others.

The Arab Parliament will focus on Arab economic integration and Arab strategies for sustainable development as well as activating joint Arab cooperation and facing challenges in the fields of health, education and social development.
