Kuwait has played a key role in achieving sustainable development in the Arab countries, stressed Minister of Social Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh on Wednesday.â€¨Al-Sabeeh, also Minister of State for Planning and Development, made the statement to KUNA on the sidelines of the ministerial conference on achieving the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" in the Arab countries.â€¨
She said Kuwait's participation in the event is part of efforts of promoting cooperation among Arabs to provide a complete strategy on sustainable development.â€¨She added that priorities of Arab countries are similar and intertwined with the goals of development.â€¨
"We, as Arab countries, should cooperate with international organizations as they have some indicators that we should take care of so as to achieve sustainable development," she said.â€¨
She called for boosting cooperation among Arabs to curb unemployment, poverty, hungry and other issues impeding development.â€¨The minister expressed her hope that the conference would issue some recommendations to help Arab countries achieve goals.â€¨
Asked about presiding over a first session of the conference, she said it reviewed the 2030 development strategy submitted by Egypt, adding that it discussed a working paper on development planning in Arab countries.
