Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Planning and Development Hind Al-Sabeeh on Tuesday warned that the ministry is strictly enforcing legal measures against "any unlicensed party that raises donations." Offenders are punished with fines and signing pledges to abstain from recurring the raising of the donations illegally, the minister said, responding to queries by MPs during the regular parliamentary session today.

As to non-Kuwaitis who get involved in such offenses, they are referred to the Ministry of Interior, pending expulsion from the country, Minister Al-Sabeeh warned.

Kuwait last year received wide-scale applause from international quarters and western authorities, namely the US Congress and the US Treasury, for clamping down on unlicensed raising of donations, she affirmed. Kuwait has moved out of the "grey area" in this respect due to the strict measures by the concerned ministries.
