The director general of the roads authority and land transports, Ahmad Al-Hesan, said on Tuesday that the authority had hammered out a plan to execute up to 80 ventures aimed at facilitating traffic in coming years. Speaking at a news conference, Al-Hesan put the total value of the package of ventures at KD8 billion (US$26 million). He added that the authority projected budget for next year amounted to KD500 million (US$1.6 billion), in addition to KD13 million (US$42 million) earmarked for miscellaneous expenditures.
Eight of these projects have already been "finalized," he said. Al-Hesan put funds spent on infrastructural projects over the past years in the range of KD1.6 billion (US$5.2 billion).
