Kuwait holds parliamentary by-elections March 16
February 5, 2019, 8:25 am

Kuwait Government will organize byelections for 2nd and 3rd constituencies on March 16 after the Court of Cassation slammed prison sentences on two MPs.

The government, in a meeting chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak AlHamad AlSabah, received a letter from National Assembly Speaker Marzouq AlGhanim officially declaring seats of MPs Dr. Waleed AlTabtabae and Dr. Jamaan AlHerbesh vacant, an official statement said.

The two seats became vacant after the Court of Cassation sentenced the two MPs, during a session on July 8, 2018, for three and a half years behind bars.

The cabinet, therefore, assigned Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Jarrah AlSabah to prepare for byelections in the 2nd and 3rd constituencies on March 16.
