Kuwait-based family mourns son

Family and friends of Joel Joseph were left deeply grieved at the news of his untimely demise on Monday, 22 January. The 20-year-old, who was pursuing his second-year of MBBS at Christian Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana, Punjab, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his college hostel room on Monday evening. A former student of Bhavans in Kuwait, the boy’s parents are Dr. John K. John who works at Ibn Sina Hospital, and Dr. Elisabeth Joseph who works at the Kuwait Cancer Center.

According to available information, Joel did not attend college on Monday morning and when his classmates went to meet him in the evening, they found the room locked from inside. After repeated knocks on the door went unanswered, the students broke open the door and found Joel hanging. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

In a message written on the wall of his room, the boy said that was ending his life and that only he was responsible for it. He also apologized to his mother, father and brother for ending his life.
