Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled AlJarrah AlSabah affirmed on Sunday government departments' readiness to cope with rainfalls, forecast on Wednesday.Addressing a session grouping ministers and MPs at the parliament headquarters, the minister noted that neither volume of the coming rain, nor speed of the winds can be predicted.

"Nevertheless, we will be prepared," he said, affirming that "humans' soul top any other priority." Alluding to the downpour that happened over the past days, the minister affirmed, "What had happened exceeded our capacities."

Highways can bear 27 mm of rain and internal roads, 20 mm, "however the rain that fell was much higher than these levels," he added. "We cannot design roads with a bearing capacity of 90 to 100 mm ... this is not possible," the minister said, speaking from technical viewpoints. He urged concerned officials to be fully prepared in anticipation of deeper weather turbulence.
