Kuwait appointed to prominent justice council post - Official

Kuwait has been elected as Deputy Chair of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice's Executive Bureau, the country's Minister of Justice announced on Wednesday.

Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of the 60th meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, Kuwaiti Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Faleh Al-Azab said that this distinction is a testament to the breadth of ties between his country and Arab nations.

On the meeting, he said it tackled a slew of pivotal issues germane to the justice system in the Arab world, chiefly, an anti-terrorism law that aims to ratchet up the fight against terrorism.

Moreover, the Kuwaiti Minister of Justice noted that the meeting also yielded plans for a raft of new legislations that will prove instrumental in further developing the Arab justice system.

He also revealed that the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice is due to hold its next meeting in November. With Saudi Arabia at the helm, the council also includes Kuwait, Qatar, Mauritania, Comoros, Iraq and Jordan.
