Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has cancelled earlier plans to obtain a license from the United Nations to build a nuclear power plant. The decision was made after studies proved the projects was too costly and impractical, according to the ministry, reported Kuwait Times.
Instead, the ministry said it would invest in alternative projects related to solar energy and wind. Kuwait is in need of water desalination stations and has plans to build more power stations, an official told the newspaper. Some of the stations are scheduled to be built between 2020 and 2030.
