Kuwait Cricket Selection Panel - Rishi D Jayan, Ghayour Ahmed, Harshith Vora, Tahir Khan and Naveen Jayan led by the Vice President Faisal Al Marzouk along with the Head of Council and Board Member Mahmoud Bastaki have announced the 14 men squad for the Kuwait National Team that will participate in the upcoming Asian Cricket Council T-20 Western Region Cup (Bahrain, Kuwait, Maldives, Qatar and Saudi Arabia) scheduled to take place in Kuwait from 25 November to 3rd December.

The final selection of Kuwait National Team was done after a process of 3 consecutive days of open trials (August), followed by two sets of back to back Tri-Series (September) that took place between the shortlisted probables (44) as Kuwait Blues, Greens & Reds and concluded with an added number of intense encounters (practice matches) amongst the final set of 30 probables. The entire process gave an equal opportunity to all 3 probable captains (Amin, Deepak & Kashif) to demonstrate their leadership qualities as well as for all registered players at KC to come forward and exhibit their skills & talent backed by performances in KC's ongoing domestic premier and desert leagues.

In a historic move, first of its kind by Kuwait Cricket, the final set of 30 probables have now gone on to form the Kuwait National Squad of 14 players and the remaining 16 will go on to form Kuwait "A" as part of KC's long term vision and development plans.

The selection panel has decided that for the reserves of the Kuwait National team for the upcoming ACC T-20, youngsters who narrowly missed out on the 14 be appointed due to their availability during the matches, enthusiasm towards assisting the team in general and providing exposure which will benefit their development with an eye towards the future.

The squad produced for ACC T-20 by this process is as follows:

Mohammad Ameen (Captain)
Ali Zaheer
Arjun Makesh
Deepak Muralidaran
Diju Xavier
Fiaz Ahmed
Hamoud Jandu
Haroon Shahid
Imran Ali
Kashif Sharif
Pradip Wasantha
Ravija Sandaruwan
Usman Waheed (WK)
Yasir Butt

Reserves:
Meet Bhavsar (WK)
Faez Ahmed Qureshi
Morshid Mostafa
Abdul Sadiq

Kuwait A:
Aamir Javed
Abdullah Meer
Abdullah Khan
Gokul Sunil Kumar
Irfan Mughal
Mohammad Ahsan
Mohammad Asgar
Mohammad Farooq Sheikh
Nawaf Inamdar
Naveed Fakhr
Naveen Jacob
Solomon Arul

Kuwait A will start their official camp from December onwards along with the Kuwait National team (post ACC T-20) leading up to ICC World Cup Qualifiers (2nd Round) scheduled to take place in Q3 of 2019.

If any of the national team players are unable to maintain fitness standards, discipline and or performances at domestic cricket and / or during the national camp, they will be subject to change with other deserving candidates in the waiting list of Kuwait A squad.

The same would apply to Kuwait A squad as players not being able to maintain standards will pave the way for others knocking on the door through domestic cricket and are becoming eligible over the coming months leading up to ICC World Cup Qualifiers in 2019.

The selection panel acknowledges that some notable names have been left out due to exceptional circumstances, such as narrowly missing out on eligibility criteria (ICC) or untimely injuries and travel arrangements, despite strong performances domestically.  The selection panel has therefore suggested that those individuals will be allowed to train with the Kuwait A squad (once present and fit) in order to reach and maintain standards expected of national team players, demonstrate their commitment to KC's long term vision and also ensure that a wider pool of players suitable to varying formats remain in peak condition for future tours.

Kuwait Cricket congratulates the national men's squad and would like to wish them all the very best for the upcoming ACC T-20 Western Region along with the Kuwait A Team players who will remain in contention for the International Calendar year of 2019.

2018: ACC T20 Western Region Cup (25th Nov - 3rd Dec)
2019: ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers (2nd Round in Q3 -2019)
