A Kuwait Airways’ cabin crew member has been detained in Bangladesh, allegedly with gold $32,300 worth of gold stored on his body.
The 45-year-old man attracted the attention of Customs’ officers when he arrived in Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5.30am on Saturday, having flown on flight KU283 from Kuwait City, according to Dhaka newspaper The Daily Star.
Eighty two grams of gold jewellery was found in his luggage and four gold bars weighing 466 grams each were found on in his trouser pockets, the paper said.
The estimated market price of the gold was TK2.5m ($32,300), a Customs’ official said. The Bangladeshi, who has reportedly worked in aviation for 17 years, has been charged.
