National Assembly's Deputy Speaker Mubarak Al-Khrinej hailed Kuwait's participation in the Saudi-led "Decisive Storm" military campaign on Houthi militias and their allies in Yemen as a "right decision." Al-Khrinej, in a press statement Saturday, described His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's decision to join the Saudi-led Decisive Storm operation is "the right decisions" to safeguard the security and stability of the Gulf region following the Houthi militias' threats to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He went on to say that "this decision reminds us with His Highness the Amir's confirmation that the security and sovereignty of Gulf states is integral and inseparable." Speaking at the inaugural session of the 26th Arab Summit on Saturday, His Highness stressed that the Houthi militias' aggressive acts posed a threat to the region's security, stability and sanctity of the regional states and their peoples.
"My country Kuwait has declared support and full stance on side of our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the other brothers in the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council, regarding its right to defend itself," he said. His Highness also noted that that the solid Kuwaiti stance in support of Riyadh came after diplomatic efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis reached a dead-end, adding that it followed a request by the Yemeni president for Arab and GCC support, as well as in activation of the joint GCC and Arab defense treaties in addition to the UN charter that stipulates necessity of taking all necessary procedures to protect international peace and security.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti lawmaker applauded His Highness the Amir's role during his presidency of the previous Arab Summit, especially His efforts to help unify Arab countries and their stances of different issues of mutual concern. He added that mediation of reconciliations was one of the main features of His Highness the Amir's wise policies to ensure the Arab and Gulf unity during His presidency of the summit.
