The Kuwait - British Friendship Society had the pleasure of hosting a farewell reception in honor of Amb. Frank Baker, the British Ambassador, whose four and a half year term of office in Kuwait has come to an end. The event held on 21st June 2014, at the residence of H.E. Ambassador Abdullah Bishara, Chairman of the Society was attended by a number of businessmen, diplomats and friends.
In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Bishara acknowledged the great job Ambassador Frank Baker has done during his tenure in Kuwait, and thanked him for his dedication and support to the Kuwait - British Friendship Society. He went on to say: “Ambassador Baker set a precedent in his zeal for the work of the Society and his achievements in launching a new diplomatic order for diplomats to emulate, in which his strategy is affinity, intimacy and familiarity.”
Amb. Frank Baker responded by thanking the community for all their support and he reiterated the importance of the relationship between Kuwait and Britain, and the important role of both entities. He closed saying: “I am truly sad to be leaving Kuwait. Although I am leaving my post, I will not be leaving behind the close relationships and friendships I have made. I thank the Society for a wonderful evening and I have enjoyed working closely with the Kuwait- British Friendship Society .“
The evening ended with a token gift of appreciation presented to Ambassador Frank Baker , wishing him every success in his new post as Ambassador to Iraq.
