Kala(Art) Kuwait organized ‘NIRAM-2016’, a Children’s Day Painting Competition at the Indian Community School, Khaitan, in association with American Tourister, on Friday, 11 November. A large number of prominent leaders of various Indian socio-cultural organizations, media persons and sponsors witnessed the competition.
‘NIRAM-2016’, a popular painting competition held on the occasion of Children's Day celebration, marks the 127th birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. Kala(Art) Kuwait is delighted to celebrate the 12th Anniversary of “NIRAM” painting competition that is open to all students of Indian Schools in Kuwait.
Around 2,375 children participated in the competition that also saw parents actively take part in the open canvas and clay sculpture competitions. Various gift items were distributed to all participants immediately after the competition.
Mr. A. K. Shrivastava, Second Secretary, Indian Embassy Kuwait, inaugurated the program. Kala(Art) Kuwait President K. Jaison Joseph, General Secretary Ragesh P.D., Program General Convener Sunil Kumar, Indian Community School Principal Mr. Gangadhar Shirshad, American Tourister Country Manager Mr. Sujo Francis, Prominent Community Leaders Suresh Mathur, Iqbal Kuttamangalam, Dr. John Art, Aniyankunju Samuel, Muhammed Riyaz, Chesil Ramapuram, K. J. John, Sabu Peter, Kala(Art) Kuwait Officials K. Mohanan, K Sadik, Samkutty Thomas, K. Hassan Koya and Mukesh V. P. also attended the function.
Talented Artists Shemej Kumar. Dr. Geetha Ravindhran, Nikesh Karunakaran, Mr. Arun and Anvesha Biswas worked on individual paintings in watercolor/acrylics, which were handed over to the organizers for auction towards the Kala(Art) charity program.
Well-known artists Sasi Krishahan, Shammy John, John Mavelikkara, Sunil Kulanada, Nikesh and Arun supervised the competition. More than a 100 volunteers helped ensure the smooth functioning of the program leaded by Kala(Art) Kuwait Executive Members Siva Kumar, Rathidas, Aboobacker, Sameer, Johney, Babu, Santhosh, Mustafa, Renuka, Thasleena, Aneecha and Santhosh. Haseen Sharaf did the Compeering.
The results of the competition will be announced by the organizing committee and the judging committee on 1 December 2016 through leading newspapers and also websites. The Prize Distribution Ceremony will be held at the Indian Community School, Khaitan on 23 December, 2016 at 2:30pm.
Kala(Art) Kuwait offers the following exclusive prizes for the winners with first place to receive a gold medal, second place to be awarded a silver medal and the third place with a bronze medal along with memento and certificate. Besides the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd, there will be Merit Prizes and Ten (10) percent of the participants will be awarded with consolation prizes. Apart from the winners, certificates will be given out to all participants in appreciation of their efforts in the event will be forwarded to the schools.
The organizers have expressed their entire satisfaction on the successful completion of the competition and take this opportunity to thank all children, parents, management and teachers of all Indian schools in Kuwait, representatives of various Indian socio-cultural organizations in Kuwait and all the sponsors for their active participation and wholehearted support in making the event a grant success.
