KKIC holds 3rd Islamic Seminar

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Kuwait Kerala Islamic Centre, (KKIC) held  the 3rd Islamic Seminar from Feb 25-28, 2014, on the theme ‘Religion for Human Good” at Farwaniya Garden Ground.

The quadrennial event was started in 2006, featuring lectures, exhibitions and special programs.

Speaking at the press conference, the President of KKIC, Abdul Lateef Madani, said the seminar intends to drive home the importance of adhering to divine laws for the moral uplift of the society.

The seminar features an exhibition which was inaugurated by the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, Sunil Jain, on Feb 25, at 5 pm. The exhibition will cover topics of the spiritual aspects of human birth and death, the aim of creation, afterlife, the importance of divine guidance, the history of the bygone civilizations and so on.

Moreover, the exhibition will also feature presentations on social evils such as alcohol, drugs, prostitution, interest, suicide and so on. Scientific facts in the Quran and counselling counters for those undergoing mental stress will be part of the exhibition.

Based on the overwhelming response in the previous years, the organizers have decided to hold the exhibition for five days, lasting an extra day. Other main events during the seminar will have 4 sessions, with special programs for children, teenagers and women, and a friendly interaction between leaders of different faiths.

One of the much awaited speakers at the seminar is Hussain Salafi, a noted Indian scholar and orator.

The second day, Feb 26, will see a program on ‘Effective Parenting’ and Butterflies, an event for children, followed by women’s program. Peace Assembly, a program for non-Malayali expatriates, will be conducted in the evening, featuring speakers in English and Urdu.

The main highlight of the third day, Feb 27, will be an interfaith dialogue in which speakers from various faiths will take part. Mujahid Balussery, Thomas Kadavil, Father Reji Varghese and PC Harish will speak at this forum.

A medical camp will be conducted on Feb 28, Friday, starting from 8 am to 11 am, by the Indian Doctors’ Forum (IDF).

Sheikh Dawood Al Asousi, Assistant Undersecretary, Ministry of Awqaf, inaugurated the seminar. Dr Ali Al Omair, Minister of Oil, Kuwait, will inaugurate the closing session.

Other important guests at the seminar were MP Dr Abdul Rahman Salih Al Jeeran and Sheikh Khalid Yusuf Bugaith, Assistant Undersecretary, Ministry of Awqaf among others.
