Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa dimmed the lights around the resort in support of Earth Hour, a global green initiative by the World Wildlife Fund.
For the third consecutive year, the landmark resort switched off non-essential lights and turned off the fountains to conserve energy. The hotel’s recorded volume of power conserved during Earth Hour was 280 Kilowatt Hours (kwh).
“Earth Hour is a remarkable initiative that symbolises our proud commitment to environmental responsibility in the local community and around the globe. We have taken various measures designed to create a greener environment and to raise awareness on the importance of this movement,” said General Manager, Hakan Petek.
Colleagues celebrated the initiative by lighting candles in the shape of the globe and guests were encouraged to dim the lights in their rooms.
Since 2015, the luxury resort had been recognised by Green Globe for its dedication to sustainable management and operations, which represents the hotel’s long-term pledge to sustainable practices.
