A minor fire was noticed in the right engine of the Jazeera Airways aircraft after it landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. All the passengers were evacuated safely.

It was a close shave for 149 passengers aboard a Jazeera Airways aircraft as one of the engines of the plane caught fire after it landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad early Thursday.

The Air Traffic Control, as well as some members of the ground staff, observed a "minor fire" soon after the J9-608 Kuwait-Hyderabad flight landed. They immediately apprised the pilot of the incident, who shut down both the engines without wasting any time. The incident reportedly took place at 1.30 am.

A minor fire was noticed in the right engine of the aircraft and it “died out after some time”. However, a detailed probe will be carried out in the matter.

All the passengers were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. The aircraft was later towed to the parking bay and is currently under inspection. An airport spokesperson, meanwhile, said: “The sparks soon led to a fire in the engine and the aircraft was immediately stopped."

In accordance with the GMR airport protocol, fire tenders were rushed to the aircraft. However, by that time, "fire was immediately brought under control automatically as the pilot stopped the engine.
