The Japanese Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Takashi Ashiki held a reception to commemorate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and the country’s National Day.
The Emperor’s birthday is celebrated on 23 December, which is also Japan’s National Day. The Emperor is the ceremonial head of state of Japan’s constitutional monarchy and the people consider him a symbol of national unity.

In his opening remarks, the Japanese Ambassador Ashiki welcomed the gathering, and highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Kuwait and Japan. He stated, “The two countries have made significant headway over decades through frequent high level exchanges and cooperation in all fields since the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 1961.”
He added that the two countries have witnessed increased multi-layered economic relations and investments, concluded bilateral agreements and exchanged official visits. He mentioned the two countries have always supported each other in critical times, emphasizing the support given by Kuwait during the 2011 devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan, which reflected the strength of their bond.
