October 4, 2017, 3:44 pm

On 2 October, Integrated Indian School (IIS) celebrated the 149th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. Students participated with great zeal in the grand celebration. The occasion was graced by IIS Director Anubhav Mehrotra and Manager Mohammed Ali. A special assembly was conducted which portrayed the importance and significance of Gandhi Jayanti, a national festival in India.

The assembly started with the Quran recitation and translation, followed by the Kuwait and Indian National Anthems. Song and dance performances by the students depicted the theme of Gandhi Jayanti in an incredible manner. The quotes by Gandhiji brought forward by the students illustrated the virtues of non-violence, tolerance, humility, forgiveness and peace, which was preached and practiced by Bapu throughout his life.

The assembly concluded with an inspirational speech by IIS Principal Arul Dharmaraj Thomas in which he shared some anecdotes from Gandhiji’s life story. It was not just a celebration but a humble gesture by the students to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation for his selfless contributions in India’s Independence struggle.
