Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah affirmed Tuesday that the international organizations must respect Kuwait's request in lifting the international suspension imposed on the country's sports activities.
Sheikh Salman made his remarks to reporters after meeting with the parliamentary youth and sports committee at the National Assembly, pointing out a number of draft laws by MPs, as well as a draft law by the government that aimed at ending the Kuwaiti sport crisis.
Lifting the sport suspension temporarily is a main and important demand by the Kuwaiti government, especially since there are currently 14 suspended sport associations in the country, the minister said, expressing his hope for a speedy lifting of the international suspension on all sport activities in Kuwait.

"I have informed the committee on all measures that PAS has taken so far regarding addressing international sport organizations and preparing a new law draft on sports, in addition to forming a new anti-doping authority in order to keep our laws and legislations in pace with the post 2012 developments," Sheikh Salman said.
The government has also emphasized three key points to be taken into consideration in managing relations with the international sport organizations, including respecting of Kuwait's constitution and sovereignty, establishing a sport legislation that meets Kuwait's interest and international bodies' requirements and aspirations, and submitting an integrated draft law on sports for the international committee.
On international organizations' proposals of the Kuwaiti government to withdraw all its lawsuits filed against them, in addition to reinstating dissolved Kuwaiti sport association, Sheikh Salman reiterated the government's stand toward studying such issues and proposals, and establishing a proper law in order to resolve all these issues.
