Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah on Wednesday affirmed necessity of employing celebrations of Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture 2016 for promoting the country's role at the cultural and humanitarian levels.
The minister called for restoring Kuwait's leading cultural status, based on its historic heritage and openness with all cultures and civilizations, through special programs to produce generations capable of shouldering national responsibilities.
Minister Sheikh Salman, who doubles as Chairman of the National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters, was speaking to KUNA after the fifth meeting of the celebrations' consultancy committee.
Youth should be involved in the celebrations' activities, said the minister who also called for updating cultural centers to make them more attractive for the young citizens as well as for examining Bahrain's expertise in this field.
Sheikh Salman noted necessity of posting programs of the celebratory activities on the electronic social media to ensure maximum publicity and close coordination among the concerned authorities to promote the Kuwaiti cultural and humanitarian messages locally, regionally and internationally. Minister Sheikh Salman indicated that the meeting was primarily devoted for preparing for final celebration on the year-end.
