Pre-Marital Medical Centers in the country in the last period have detected cases of infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS, reports Al-Rai daily. In this context, the Director of Social Service Department at Ministry of Health Yaqoub Al-Kandari noted the concerned person is a Kuwaiti and that further tests will be conducted to confirm the results.
He further explained a meeting will be held with the citizen to let him know about his condition and the disease after obtaining the final results, and with his approval, the other party with whom he was about to tie the knot will be informed. In a related issue, the Ministry of Health has stressed the need to conduct pre-marital checkup to reduce the many genetic and infectious diseases for couples to bring forth healthy children, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting sources added that premarital checkup also prevents couples from transmitting life-threatening diseases by taking necessary precaution and to seek treatment if any of them tests positive to infection. They noted one out of 25 children in the country is at risk of carrying genetic disease in case the basic precaution is not taken.
