An Indian expatriate working as a technician was arrested by Criminal Evidences Men for using his flat in Farwaniya area to practice medicine and perform illegal abortions for expatriates. The officers received information that an Indian residing in Hawalli area had another flat in Farwaniya area where women were visiting to terminate illegitimate pregnancies.
Acting on information, the flat was placed under surveillance until the report was verified, and then security operatives raided the place and arrested the suspect. They searched the apartment and recovered 480 pieces of needles and special equipment for terminating pregnancies.
The suspect admitted performing abortions for several women from different nationalities. He was referred for further investigation.
