India has successfully developed Electronic Counter measure Systems to counter radio controlled bombs like Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), Indian Defense Minister AK Antony said Wednesday in the parliament.

Antony said the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has indigenously designed and developed Electronic Counter measure Systems to counter "the threat of radio controlled bombs often called IEDs".

"The Protection System radiates high power electromagnetic signals and prevents the detonation of radio controlled bombs/ IEDs," the defense minister said. He said the bomb countering device would be deployed for protecting high profile people and Security convoys.

"Systems worth nearly 3000 million Indian rupees have already been productionised and fielded to counter the threat of Radio Controlled bombs," he informed.
