Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the State of Kuwait announced with deep sorrow the sudden death in Freetown on Wednesday, 8 February, of His Excellency Ibrahim Bakarr Kamara, the Ambassador of Sierra Leone to Kuwait. A book of condolence is to be opened at the embassy at a later date.
The late diplomat, who was his country’s first ambassador to Kuwait, had worked tirelessly to strengthen political and economic ties between Sierra Leone and Kuwaits. He was especially well versed in all aspects of Sierra Leone’s economic activity and vigorously promoted the immense development potential of his country to Kuwaiti investors and entrepreneurs.
“Countries are realizing that often economy trumps politics in international relations. This shift in emphasis has called for accredited ambassadors to be more conversant with their country’s economic policies than with its political leanings,” was how the late ambassador framed his economic diplomacy, during a wide ranging interview he accorded to The Times Kuwait early in his tenure.
A well-known and widely respected figure in Kuwait’s diplomatic and social circles, Ambassador Kamara’s demise will be deeply mourned by all who knew him.
