September 18, 2018, 9:07 am

Deputy chief of Kuwait Winter Sports Club Khaled AlMutairi hailed on Monday Kuwait's recentlyclinched international ice hockey title as an accomplishment that would usher competitive winter sports in the country towards greater things.

The men's squad beat the Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club Giants, 63, on their home turf in the final of the HKAHC Amateur IceHockey Tournament on Sunday. Speaking at a press conference at Kuwait International Airport, AlMutairi said the team should be proud of their victory amongst another seven accomplished teams in Asia.

The squad faced tough opposition, particularly in the last few games of the competition, held under the supervision of the International Ice Hockey Federation, Kuwait goaltender Jassim AlSarraf said. Along with ice hockey, Kuwait Winter Sports Club manages nationals in team and individual sports, including figure skating, curling and speed skating.
