Indian Muslim Association (IMA) - Youth Wing, Kuwait, in cooperation with Masjid Al Kabeer, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs - Kuwait, has organized many activities as part of its ongoing campaign that commemorates 10 years in Kuwait.
The theme of this campaign was carefully selected to fight against the wastage of resources and the evils in the society by supporting morality, ethics and responsibility towards nature.
The campaign was launched during Ramadan, on 17 June in Masjid Alghanim Khaitan at an iftar party attended by over 1000 guests. As part of this campaign, a sub campaign with the theme ‘Islam is Green’, which emphasized the importance of the environment and greenery was organized in the month of October. The campaign concluded on 21 October with a program in Omariya Garden, which was attended by over 200 youth from various parts of Kuwait.
The Dias was presided by Eng. Mohammed Abdullah Rasheedi, RLE (Garden District 7), K. Gangadhar - Principal (ICSK Khaitan), Mustafa Sharaf - HR Manager (Gulf Mart), K.S. Mohiuddin – HSE Specialist (KOC), Arshad Habib – General Secretary (IMA) and Adnan Tonse – Advisory council (IMA-YW)
After Friday prayers, the audience gathered in Omariya Garden where lunch was served, which was followed by a speech on the campaign’s main topic ‘Islam is Green’ by K.S. Mohiuddin, who is a HSE Specialist in KOC. He explained how deforestation is adversely effecting people's lives and how going green can be fruitful for all inhabitants of earth.
Principal of ICSK Khaitan K. Gangadhar gave a short talk expressing his happiness on attending the program. He was delighted to know that the ‘Green’ color associated with Islam is not just for painting Masjids but also reflects its association with the ‘Green’ environment.
Eng. Mohammed Abdullah Rasheedi gave a short speech in Arabic encouraging the youth to do more of such activities. After the speeches, mementos were presented to the distinguished guests by Arshad Habib and Rafat Ali (IMA). Guests inaugurated the activity of tree plantation by planting two trees in the garden.
From there, the audience along with Eng. Mohammed Rasheedi went to Al-Siddiq area where they planted 500 saplings.
This activity was carried out with enthusiasm by everyone present, particularly children who also actively helped make the event a success. After the planting of saplings, the event concluded with a distribution of refreshments sponsored by Al-Yasra foods.
Br. Riyaz Khan convened the entire program and the guidelines / safety measures for planting trees on the roadside were given by Br. Wasif Hashmi.
