IIT-IIM Alumni Association organizes Kuwait Open Quiz 2015

The Alumni Association in Kuwait of India’s premium institutions, IITs and IIMs, organized its annual open quiz program QOQ~2015 for the second year on 20 November at the Sabah Al Salem Auditorium of the Kuwait University.

The uniqueness of the event was that it was open to all irrespective of age, nationality, qualification, gender or profession, including few overseas contestants. The quiz was conducted by the very renowned quizmaster Giri Balasubramanium from India, popularly known across the world as 'Pickbrain'.

The quizmaster with his distinctive style of high quality quizzing, great sense of humor, impromptu quick wit and affable personality pleased the audience and participants. The quiz was of very high quality, range was great, and competition was stiff.  Pickbrain in between sessions kept the audience interested with his very fascinating questions and gave out prizes to members with the right answers.

The event partner for QOQ-2015, Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) was represented by a team led by Founder and CEO Minoo Patel and its President Prof. Khalid Al-Begain. The KCST President made a presentation on their upcoming new Institution to be opened shortly for admissions to engineering and science bachelor degree courses. The KCST is being setup in technical collaboration with the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India.

The Association President, Peeyush Jain welcomed the dignitaries, quizmaster, and the quiz cognoscenti and thanked all for making the event a grand success. The Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Dr. Sunil Jain in his inaugural speech recalled nostalgic moments at his alma mater of IIT Delhi and reaffirmed the grueling at these prestigious IITs that prepares alumni to perform and excel in whatever field they take up.

The QOQ~15 Winner team was Quizaholics Anonymous from Oman with team members Hala Jamal, Hani Jamal and Shaheen Hussain, winning a cash prize of KD 500/- and various gift vouchers. The first Runner-up team was Hum Azad Hai comprising Deepak Thomas, Ruchir and Niket Jain, who won a cash prize of KD 300/- and various gift vouchers and the second Runner-up team was Quizards comprising Mayukh Mukherjee, Amar Sesma and Nigel Faria, who won a cash prize of KD 200/- and various gift vouchers.

On this eventful occasion, the Ambassador Jain also released the first souvenir of the IIT IIM Alumni Association in Kuwait. The program ended with a vote of thanks proposed by General Secretary of the Association Sanjay Fuller. The event was compered by Revathy Akkur and Sashwat Dash captured the snaps of the beautiful moments during the event.
