May 2, 2017, 2:35 pm

IIT-IIM Alumni Association, Kuwait celebrated a grand get-together aboard a luxury boat operated by M/s Al Silsan that sailed across the Arabian Sea on Saturday, 29 April.  The six-hour boat trip was a fun filled session where the gathering of members and their families together in the company of friends and loved ones thoroughly had a gala time with lots of fun and frolic.

IIT-IIM Alumni Association President, Peeyush Jain welcomed those who attended the picnic including the beloved Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Sunil Jain and Madam Dr. Gargi Jain alongside the First Secretary, Indian Embassy, KrishanKant Pahal and Mrs. Pahal. Both the couples mingled with the fraternity and spent many wonderful moments with them.

The games began with a couple game aptly titled ‘my fair lady’ where blind folded men on the instructions of their better halves had to do a bit of make up on the photos of their chosen actresses of Bollywood. The best performance was from the guests from the embassy Mr. and Mrs. Pahal, and the worst expectantly were the young duo, Prakhar and Calai.  Other games included Crush Oreos and Consume Clean for the children of two age groups were won by Raghav and Kanika.

Four corners was the next game before a contest followed of Anthakshari between men and women, which was fiercely contested with keen participation and in the end everyone settled for a tie sans super over. Then, the guests savored a dance session where all performed energetic steps to the beats and catchy tunes of the desi Punjabi numbers. Every one danced their hearts out as they enjoyed themselves.

The beautiful moments of the event were captured by volunteer camera men like Pradeep Chaudhary, Gourav, Prakhar and of course several girls of the houses through their smart phones. A highlight of the day was the Titanic pose photograph of almost all the couples defying age and throwing their inhibitions to the winds.

Guests’ appetite was whetted with snacks, tea, and during lunch, a sumptuous three course meal was served, prepared by M/s Taal Restaurant. Later, the members along with their better halves and children settled on the deck and played an entertaining quizzical game of luck, Tambola, during which several people won handsome cash prizes.

The winners of the games Yogesh, Ashish, Bal Mukund and Calai were handed prizes.

Catering, logistics and registrations were looked after by Peeyush, Bhushan and Suresh. Systems were looked after by Bhushan. Srinivas Vaidyula conducted Tambola. Planning of the event has been meticulous talking over several Turkies and executing perfectly down to the wire with commitment of the Alumni core group and enthusiastic volunteers. No wonder, the event received a positive feedback and high praise from the every participant.
