May 31, 2014, 2:43 pm

After a gala inaugural event in November last year, the IIT-IIM Alumni Association in Kuwait hosted its second event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kuwait on 29 May. The event was attended by members of the IIT-IIM alumni fraternity in Kuwait along with their families. The Honorable Ambassador of India in Kuwait, Mr. Sunil Jain, and his wife Mrs. Jain, graced the event as the Chief Guests.

Mr. Peeyush Jain, President of the association and an alumnus of IIT Bombay, welcomed the Ambassador, himself an IIT Delhi alumnus, as the new patron of the association.

Mr. Jain apprised the Ambassador of the initiative taken by the association to bring together the IIT IIM alumni in Kuwait. Reminiscing his IIT days, the Ambassador shared his personal experiences at IIT and how the rigor at IIT prepared him for an eventful career as a diplomat.
Mr. Ashish Verma, General Secretary of the association, presented the various initiatives that the association had taken since its inception in November last year and highlighted the key initiatives planned for the coming months.

One of the focus areas of the association would be to make the Indian kids in Kuwait more aware of the IITs and the IIMs, and encourage them towards preparing for these prestigious institutions. The association intends to collaborate with Indian community schools in Kuwait by organizing talks by IIT-IIM alumni, sharing their memorable journeys through the hallowed portals of IITs and IIMs with the youngsters.

The event also hosted a welcome dinner for the Ambassador and was marked by entertaining games for kids and families of the alumni. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) are globally renowned premier Indian institutions of higher education in the fields of Engineering Technology and Management, respectively.
