IICO denounces Boko Haram's abduction of school girls in Nigeria

President of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq has strongly denounced the kidnapping of girls in Nigeria at the hands of the so-called (Boko Haram group).

Al-Maatuq, also doubles as Diwan Amir advisor and envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs, said in a press statement issued by the IICO today that Islam is completely innocent of these heinous and criminal acts that are contrary to the principles of Islamic law and the international humanitarian norms and conventions.

He added that he had received news of the crime of kidnapping girls from their schools in Nigeria by Boko Haram group with sadness, pain and sorrow. He condemned the acts committed by such groups which tarnish the image of Islam and contradicts its teaching of mercy, tolerance and coexistence.

He said that Islam considers these practices criminal, forbidden and great sins which necessitate the most severe penalties.
