IFL General Secretary receives Annai Therasa Award

Keerani Mathi, General Secretary of Indian Frontliners (IFL) was honored by Media 7 News web channel with the Annai Therasa Award on 20 August.

Mathi through IFL has provided assistance and support to needy Indian Nationals in coordination with the Indian embassy who responds to calls for help from Indian nationals.

For many years, Mathi has provided relief mainly to people in distress such as stranded workers and maids, poor and sick laborers in need of medical attention. He has also extended help to families of dead relatives in Kuwait who have found it difficult to repatriate their relatives’ bodies to their home country due to their limited knowledge of Kuwait and limited opportunities for the expatriates available in the country. He is dedicated and happy to serve the community in his free time.

One of the biggest achievements by Mathi is to suspend the execution of 2 Indian nationals sentenced to death in Kuwait, with the help of Indian Embassy and then Ambassador Shri. Satish C. Mehta. By getting the necessary information 3 days prior to the execution, on behalf of Indian Frontliners, Mathi with the affected person's relatives and friends coordinated with the Indian Embassy for the humble effort.

In recognition of his efforts and services to the community, Media 7 News honored him with Anna Therasa Award in Chennai in a function held at Kavikko Convention Centre, Chennai on 20 August.

DSR. Subash, President, Tamilnadu Press Club presented the award during the event which witnessed the attendance of Tamimun Ansari, MLA, Prof. Suba. Veerapandiyan, Film Director Mr. Amir, other dignitaries and media personnel.
