The CBSE I section of Indian Educational School (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan) played a different note on 4 April to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year 2016-17.
The celebration started with a morning assembly conducted by the teachers in the school auditorium where the students were seated in amphitheatrically, which eventually changed the atmosphere into something that of the old Roman Colosseum.
Suresh. V. Balakrishnan, the Vice Principal of Bhavan CBSE I delivered the welcome speech, and spread the message that right education which helps create stable minded human beings rather than emotionally unbalanced psychopaths is the need of the hour. He wanted children to nurture and maintain the intense desire for success in life. He ended the speech with the promise of a fun- filled year ahead.
Then followed a game of identifying the teachers, where the teachers had to wear masks to conceal their identity on stage and the students had to guess and identify them. This was followed by a hilarious parade of teachers in different get ups, meant to break the monotonous tan of their appearance indicating a fun- filled year ahead. A visual depiction of a brief biography of Dr. A. P. J Abdul Kalam added a little seriousness to the event.
T. Premkumar, the principal, spiced up the celebration with an entertaining speech. He inspired the children with his fatherly talk, and assured everyone once again that learning is fun. The programme ended with the principal inaugurating a salad party which was much enjoyed by teachers and students alike.
