The Institution of Engineers (India), Kuwait Chapter held its highly anticipated Annual Family Day event on 26 December, 2014 at the Wafra Green Farm House. The assistance of generous sponsors, volunteers and IEI committee members contributed to another successful family day that was all about community sharing and fun.
The event started off with a yoga session by instructor Engr. Hirak Kumar Mitra, and an offering of breakfast and beverages for members and their families. A DJ played some upbeat tunes to keep the mood light. IEI Kuwait Chapter Chairman Engr. Joseph Panicker delivered a short speech before introducing the Chief Guest Dr. Mustafa Al Mousawi FRCS, President, Kuwait Transplant Society and Chairman, Department of Organ Transplant Center, Kuwait who accepted IEI’s invitation and traveled the distance with his life partner Madam Suha.
Dr. Al Mousawi addressed the gathering in a humble manner, explaining the importance of organ transplants and answering queries. Many members readily signed consent forms for organ donation, and the doctor was pleased with the overwhelming response from the Indian Engineers and families for the great social cause.
Next, MC Mr. Anson interacted with the crowd, leading the way for many fun games. Under his supervision, the adults and children participated in entertaining games that had everyone laughing and smiling.
The harmonious voice of Bombay Aziz regaled the audience with classic meaningful songs, and people swayed to the lyrical tunes. Winners Restaurant served a delicious lunch, and set up a live tandoor kitchen with grilled items like kabbabs that was accompanied by rotis and fried rice served hot. To finish the pleasant meal, members relished the sweetness of hot jilabis and gulab jamun. Post lunch, an impromptu talent show took place with participants including all age groups. The time passed smoothly with an array of great entertainment keeping everyone occupied.
General Secretary Dr. Mahendhran proposed the vote of thanks and thanked everyone for making the function a grand success. The memorable day ended with members dancing and singing merrily around a bonfire as one happy community.
